The South African slang word ‘ayoba’ originated where most slang originates; wherever you think it does! Some think it came from Lucky Dube’s song “I’ve got you babe”... at the end of the song he screams...AYOBA-YOH!'. Others say that it is derived from an amalgamation of the numerous South African languages.
But wherever it came from, it is actually an exuberant expression of general delight or joy but not limited as some use it, to appreciate or agree with something, you can also use it as a salutation to say 'Hi' or 'Bye'...but unless you're from the street you will get perplexed whenever someone throws it at you. It basically means ‘cool’, ultimate or awesome, nicer than nice.
As Christians are hearts desire must be to live our lives as an ‘awesome delight’ to our God. But more than that, because we love Him and we want the World to see how brilliant He is in His righteous requirements of our lives, for His Glory and for our joy.
In this new series starting the 13th June we start getting into and committing to what God says, is ‘AYOBA’!
